What is the Kinesthetic System?

The Kinesthetic system is your body's sensory awareness of its movement and position in space, enabling you to coordinate actions like walking or reaching.

What is Kinetisense?

Kinetisense works through specialized sensors called proprioceptors in your muscles, tendons and joints that detect stretch and pressure. These sensors send continuous signals to the brain, which uses this information, along with input from the inner ear to create a constant awareness of your body's state, allowing for smooth and controlled movements.

How it works:

1. Sensory receptors: Specialized receptors called proprioceptors are located in your muscles, tendons, joints and ligaments.

2. Mechanical detection: These receptors detect mechanical changes like stretch and tension within your body's structure as you move.

3. Neural Signals: The receptors conver these mechanical stimuli into Nueral (electrical) signals that travel along nerve pathways to the brain.

4. Brain Processing: The brain, particularly areas like the somatosensory cortex and the cerebellum, processes this sensory feedback.

5. Awareness and Action: This processing creates a sense of your body's position and movement allowing for accurate coordination and balance during activities.

Key Functions and Examples:

  • Body Awareness: Knowing where your limbs are even with your eyes closed
  • Coordination: Guiding smooth and efficient movements, such as running or reaching for an object.
  • Muscle Memory: The ability to perform learned motor tasks without conscious thought like typing or riding a bike.
  • Weight and Force Reception: Sensing the weight of an object when you lift it by interpreting the muscle tension.
